We’re a professional, two partner firm of Chartered Accountants based between Southampton and Fareham, established for over 30 years. We’ve a broad range of clients from personal tax through to multi-million turnover businesses including some charities and clubs. We’re also authorised by ICAEW to conduct Probate work.
We operate several payrolls for our clients from Director only payrolls through to payrolls with 20 – 30 employees. Knowledge and experience of payrolling benefits in kind is important, together with a good understanding and knowledge of auto-enrolment for pensions. The role includes dealing with CIS reporting for a number of clients in the construction industry.
As payroll manager you will be responsible for both operating certain payrolls and reviewing payroll submissions prepared by other staff members.
You will be required to maintain your technical knowledge of payrolls requirements, including CIS, and be expected to support start-up clients in getting their payrolls up and running including dealing with their auto-enrolment requirements.
Alongside providing payroll support for clients we’re looking for someone who also enjoys helping clients maintain accurate bookkeeping and filing VAT returns. The firm encourages most, but not all, clients to use Xero for their bookkeeping/accounts therefore knowledge of this is very useful, but not essential.
We are broadening our bookkeeping offering to clients and we’re looking for someone who is capable of using the tools technology provides to streamline the bookkeeping process but at the same time ensure client support and experience in this area is tailored to the client’s own needs and preferences.
As a general practice, our client base is very mixed providing all our staff with a varied and broad range of tasks to deal with each day. There is scope to become involved in other accounts and tax work if working capacity allows but the primary focus of this role is payroll and bookkeeping support to clients and staff in our office. The work is challenging but extremely rewarding.
Our clients are friendly but expect the very best from us. Payroll in particular is an area where clients expect accuracy and prompt responses to their queries.
Our expectation is that this is a 3 – 4 day per week role. Working hours can be flexed according to personal commitments but we would expect to agree core working days/times. The work is office-based in Park Gate.
We will provide training on the software we use with a handover from the current payroll manager on all day-to-day operational requirements. Annual CPD training will also be provided in the form of SESCA payroll specific training courses as well as online webinars for relevant skills/knowledge.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with payroll experience and a good grasp of bookkeeping and looking to work in small, friendly firm of Chartered Accountants.
Salary is dependent on experience but successful candidates can expect between £14 – £16 per hour plus up to 5% matched pension contributions.
If you have the relevant experience and are interested in becoming part of our team, please send an email with your CV attached to Lucy Parry at info@parryhancock.co.uk.
